Australian botanicals are at the heart of this study. Generally overlooked in favour of the showy allure of cultivated flowers, Australian natives conceal a raw, understated beauty, which is both subtly complex and quietly resilient in the face of adversity. …….. prints here
Franca Turrin. Artist.
By inviting you into my world, I hope to inspire a lifetime of appreciation for the beauty that surrounds us.
My work delves deeply into Australian flora, intertwining its rhythms and resilience with reflections on the passage of time, the spirit of the land, and the lives of its people. It is a voice for the authentic and the unseen in the ordinary.
Each work holds hidden narratives, encapsulating themes of impermanence and transience while embracing the quiet beauty, release and acceptance found within imperfection.

The Craft
Authentic Photography.
Light is the driving force behind my work. I create my textured and layered still lives just using flash and continuous light. In a sense it’s using my camera to capture and paint the canvas with light. And I do it with only a single exposure. In the spirit of wabi-sabi this process means that no two images are alike. Each work uniquely captures the imperfect and transient. ….Franca Turrin
